He
is the son of Larry Norris Jr of Stanwood, WA and Dianne Davis of
Fresno, CA. Larry attends school at Highland Christian Schools in
Arlington, WA. His activities include in Middle School Soccer, Middle
School Basketball at Highland Christian Schools and Stanwood Camano
Minor League Little League baseball.
Earlier
this year, Larry successfully passed the District Ranger of The Year
evaluations and successfully earned his Discovery Ranger Gold Eagle
Achievement award. The Royal Rangers is a scouting program similar to
the Boy Scout program and is a merit driven program offered by the
Assembly of God church.
Every great challenge a young man accepts helps to build his character,
increase his determination to achieve, and improve his ability to set
goals and fulfill them. The Adventure Rangers Advancement Trail offers
such a challenge—the Trail to the Gold Medal of Achievement. It is a
plan to help them earn the Gold Medal of Achievement.
The key to progressing on the Advancement Trail is earning merits. Each
merit has a colored border, indicating its color group. After
completing a specific number of merits in the required color groups,
the Adventure Ranger can earn one of the Advancement awards. For
example, the Advancement awards leading to the Bronze Medal of
Achievement are the Powder Horn, Bowie Knife, Tomahawk, and Long Rifle.

Larry Norris Jr – Sr. Commander - Warm Beach Comm. Church Outpost 168,
Ron Large – Divisional Coordinator – Northwest Division,
Barry Hollmer – Outpost Commander - Warm Beach Comm. Church Outpost 168,
Both
Commander Larry Norris Jr and Commander Barry Hollmer recently
completed the required courses of study required to earn the Royal
Rangers' Leader's Medal of Achievement award or LMA. Their commitment
was unique as the two of them worked towards this goal as a team
throughout the training. This award signifies that the
Commander has completed a series of courses designed to help expand and
enhance their skills in Leadership. The LMA is the culmination of the
Leadership Training Academy (LTA) which has adopted a continuous
training philosophy. It places training content into “modules” that
commanders can complete in eight hours or less. This approach gives the
commanders many training options to customize a training plan that
meets their unique needs! Additional modules are added as new training
ideas or program changes are incorporated into Royal Rangers. This
makes the LTA a life-long commitment to training!
The required elements to earn the Leaders Medal of Achievement are:
- Ranger Basics – 8 hour module
- Discipleship 1 and 2 – (3 hours each module; 6 hours total)
- Safety and the Church – 3 hour module
- Successful Outpost – 4 hour module or attending World Class Outpost
- One Age Specific Activities Module – 4 hour module:
- Ranger Kids Activities
- Discovery/Adventure Rangers Activities
- Expedition Rangers Activities
- First Aid-CPR (from a certified provider, e.g., Red Cross)
- One Elective Module – 2 hour module (minimum)
- LTA Camp-out for Discovery-Adventure-Expedition Rangers leaders
– (overnight camping module), or Ranger Kids Skills for RK leaders – (6
hour module). An NTC, or RKTC, may be attended instead since they
exceed the minimum requirements for the LMA.
Following
the presentation of LMA Awards and Recognition to Commander Larry and
Commander Barry, Divisional Coordinator Ron Large presented
appointments to the Divisional Staff to both Commanders for their
commitment to Royal Rangers; their desire to become better trained
Commanders for their Outpost and the boys in their Outpost. Both
Commanders were humbled by the appointment and graciously accepted this
appointment. Thank you to Divisional Coordinator Ron Large and the
entire Northwest Ministry Network for this opportunity to continue to
serve and minister to boys.
Helping Others and Giving Thanks!Warm Beach Royal Rangers recently assisted the Warm Beach Community Church Food Bank preparing Thanksgiving Food Baskets. The boys and Commanders helped through the entire project, from setting up, organizing, assembling, clean up and delivering them. The boys took time to give thanks for all of their own blessings while helping others. The Food Bank Coordinator, Marleen Weigand was very appreciative of the Outpost assisting during the holiday.

Local Royal Ranger Achieves District Ranger Of The Year.
Larry Norris III of Stanwood, WA is a member of the Warm Beach Community Church Royal Ranger - Outpost 168. Larry participated at the District Royal Ranger of the Year evaluations on October 11, 2008 in Yakima, WA. The evaluation completed the Discovery Ranger program which he has participated in for 3 years. Ranger of the Year is a time where boys come together to show their knowledge and skill in Royal Rangers. It is not a test against other boys, but a measure of progress each boy is making toward the Level of Excellence. All boys can earn the highest award of Outstanding Ranger of the Year based on the points he scores.
He is the son of Larry Norris Jr of Stanwood, WA and Dianne Davis of Fresno, CA. Larry attends school at Highland Christian Schools in Arlington, WA. His activities include in Middle School Soccer at Highland Christian and Stanwood Camano Little League baseball.
Larry successfully demonstrated to the evaluation team his understanding in the selected areas of Fire Craft, First Aid Skills, Weather and Fishing. The boys did both Written and Practical Skills testing to show their understanding of these areas. These boys represented boys from the State of Washington and Northern Idaho, which represents the Northwest Ministry Network.
Earlier this year, Larry successfully completed his Gold Eagle Achievement award. This is the highest award that is obtainable by boys in the Discovery Ranger program before continuing up into the Adventure Ranger program. The Royal Rangers is a scouting program similar to the Boy Scout program and is a merit driven program offered by the Assembly of God church.
Discovery Rangers is a fun and exciting program for boys in third-, fourth-, and fifth-grade. Not only does the boy get to discover great indoor and outdoor activities, he will get to make many new friends. Discovery Rangers help boys to grow in many different ways. Along the way, Discovery Rangers are able to learn great life skill lessons.

RANGER OF THE MONTH
Past Ranger(s) Of The Month - 2007-2008
This is a list of past Rangers of The Month. This honor was earned by those boys who achieved points for that month. They are awarded points for various items like:
Attendance, Uniform, Attending Church, Attending Sunday School, Attending Children's Church, Bringing their Bible, Handbooks, Workbooks, Earning Merits, Bringing A Visitor, Participating in Activites and Dues. Each item has a point value to which is tallied up at the end of the month. Those points then turn into the method of rewarding the boys to take part in the Ranger Store. Ranger Store allows the boys to have a tangible way to use the points earned to exchange them for items they might need for their camping gear, Ranger wear or fun items.
